Bill, known to many as “Robo”, was born in Dothan, Alabama on September 9th, 1949 to Jewel and Sibyl Robertson. He graduated from Dothan High School in 1968 and Troy University in 1973. Later that year he started his teaching career at Decatur High School in Atlanta. He later moved back to the Wiregrass after accepting a coaching position at Carrol High School in Ozark. It was here that Bill met and fell in love with Linda Kent of Chattahoochee, FL whom he was married to for 25 years. Bill coached football and taught at Dale County High School as well as at G.W. Long High School. After coaching, Bill was an assistant principal at G.W. Long High School and principal at G.W. Long Elementary School where he retired in after 35 years in public education. Not one to remain idle, Bill took another job driving for PPG Auto Glass after retirement. Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother, Jewell and Sibyl Robertson; sister, Helen Bonner, Linda Kent (Mother of Bo and Kent).

Bill leaves behind two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kent (Judy) Robertson of Ozark and Bo Robertson of Tuscaloosa;  two precious grandchildren, Kennedy and John Douglas Robertson of Ozark; an uncle, Ted (Betty) Cottle of Andalusia.   His children and grandchildren were the light of his life and he spent much of his recent years spoiling his two grandchildren.

The family would like to especially thank Mr. Jimmy Norris, a longtime friend and recent caregiver during Bill’s illness. Also, would like to thank the staff at Angel Hands for their assistance during his time at home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Coach Bill Robertson Memorial Scholarship Fund C/O Judy Robertson or William Robertson. Donations can be made at any Regions Bank location and/or online.
